Hannover Messe 2026 — Everything Norwegian companies need to know
Hannover Messe brings together 4,000 exhibitors from 60 countries under one roof. Your complete guide to attending in 2026 — from hall planning to practical travel tips.
Hannover Messe is the world's largest industrial trade fair, and for Norwegian companies in manufacturing, automation and energy it is genuinely unmissable. The 2026 edition runs from 13–17 April and fills 23 halls at the vast Hannover exhibition complex.
Why does Hannover Messe matter for Norwegian companies?
Norway's industrial sector is in rapid transition. Green hydrogen, offshore wind and automated production lines dominate the agenda. Hannover Messe covers the full spectrum — industrial robots, CNC machinery, energy storage, AI-driven maintenance — and more.
For Norwegian buyers this means access to technology and suppliers you won't find at home. It means direct contact with the engineers behind the solutions, not just the salespeople. And it means a dense conference programme that genuinely tracks where the industry is heading.
Which halls should you prioritise?
With 23 halls it is impossible to see everything in a day. Plan two to three days and pick halls based on what your company actually needs:
- Halls 2–6: Automation, Motion & Drives— Robotics, sensors and drive systems. Ideal for manufacturers considering automation.
- Halls 9–11: Digital Ecosystems— Industrial IoT, digital twin technology and platform economy. Where SAP, Siemens and hundreds of startups meet.
- Halls 12–13: Energy Solutions— Hydrogen, battery technology and renewable energy. Norwegian energy companies find strategic partners here.
- Halls 14–17: Engineered Parts & Solutions— Subcontractors, materials and component manufacturers. A strong source for new suppliers.
How to prepare practically
The difference between a good fair visit and a wasted one is preparation. Start at least six weeks ahead:
- Define goals:Are you sourcing suppliers? Mapping competitors? Learning about new technology? Each attendee should have at most three focus areas.
- Book meetings in advance:Hannover Messe has a matchmaking platform — use it. The most interesting exhibitors are fully booked by day two.
- Plan the days:Hall 2 and Hall 13 are a 20-minute walk apart. Don't schedule meetings in both during the same morning.
- Download the app:Interactive map, exhibitor list and calendar — indispensable for navigation.
How to get there and where to stay
Hannover is well set up for fair visits. The airport (HAJ) has a direct train into the centre in 17 minutes, and the exhibition complex has its own S-Bahn station. Hotels fill up quickly during the fair — book early, ideally 2–3 months ahead. Alternatively, stay in surrounding towns like Laatzen or Langenhagen with good train links to the fairground and prices typically 30–40% lower than the city centre.
